CARE ready to clean up
The CARE group will host its fourth community litter clean-up for 2011, focusing on sections of Dampier Highway and Balmoral Road on June 19.
CARE will kick off the clean-up with a short briefing at the corner of Baynton Drive and Dampier Highway at 8.30am.
Each bag of rubbish collected on the day will attract $6 for the Dampier Seafarer’s Centre which supports seafarers visiting region.
CARE group member Chris Byrnes said in the past the response they had received from locals had been great.
“We have had anything from 25 to 120 people show up and most do get some satisfaction from helping out and seeing the end result,” he said.
“Generally we collect between 100 and 200 bags full of rubbish.”
CARE will provide garbage bags, extra water, sunscreen, extra gloves, first aid kit and a sharps container so all you have to bring is sun protection, plenty of water, enclosed footwear and gloves.
