A field of 63 golfers turned out for the day, along with the blustery wind, to compete for the Coates Hire Monthly Mug.

In the last week our greens have been re-sanded with hope for consistency on all holes.

This has proven to be just the case with some blistering scoring on the day.

Our thanks go to local professional Darren Beier and Mick Maddaford for their efforts in getting the greens ready before the Karratha Open on August 27 and 28.

The day belonged to Case Gray with a gross 77 net 65.

Coming in second place was Wayne (happy feet) Martyn with a gross 86 net 65.

In third place with a gross 84, net 66 was Gary Broun.

Fourth with gross 78, net 66 and taking the best Vet prize as well was Steve (Bones) Preston.

Rounding out the count in fifth place and still in his purple patch was Shaun Uys with gross 78, net 66.

Best gross score went to Darren Beier with a fantastic 75 off the beater.

Best Lady was our rocket pocket, Angie Rata, with a 68 net.

Bringing up the rear for the day (and it was hotly contested) was Brian Thompson.

Novelties: nearest the pin number three Greg Hulin, number eight Dave McLaren, number 11 Mike Hilsz.

Best third shot number four John Magerl, number six June Worsley, number 12 Shaun Uys (Eagle), number 14 Kevin Clark.

Longest putt on number 18 went to Sunan Ong Arch and longest drive on number nine was Casey Gray.

Congratulations to all and thanks again to Yummy Box for their generous sponsorship.

Next week’s event is Stableford sponsored by Home Hardware.
