Community information day focuses on Wickham town redevelopment
Rio Tinto’s progress towards the Wickham town redevelopment and the Cape Lambert expansion is the focus of the Wickham Community Information Day on Wednesday, August 31.
The information day is open to all members of the community and will run from 10am to 9pm at the Wickham Community Hall, with special presentations from 11am to 12pm and 7pm to 8pm.
Rio Tinto general manager Port Services Marnie Finlayson said the information day was an important opportunity to explain clearly to the people of Wickham and neighbouring towns about what was happening in their area.
“We really hope the community will take this opportunity to see what has been achieved to date, how the future projects will be rolled out, and ask us questions,” she said.
“These projects will significantly change the face of the area and community feedback is important to us – we need to know what the community is thinking.”
Projects to be presented and discussed include the Saylor Park/Stove Court Park redevelopment, Wickham sporting and recreation precinct and cycle way network, central facilities building, residential FIFO redevelopment, Wickham South residential development, upgrade of the picture gardens, Wickham youth centre project, dredging of the harbour, increasing infrastructure and capacity at Cape Lambert and the rail network expansion.
