Families enjoy access to Gratwick Pool
Hedland Community Living Association hosted their fifteenth Annual General Meeting at the Gratwick pool in Port Hedland last Sunday.
30 members gathered for what was a mix of fun and problem solving.
The main issue of huge concern to all who attended was that of the lack of respite options.
As the members gathered it was discovered that almost every family had been through or was currently with a family member in hospital.
During or after such stressful times when the families need a break, currently the only option is to return their family member to hospital.
Once the new committee had been elected, the first item of business was to put together a sub- committee to rally support for a respite centre in Port Hedland.
All were keen to ensure a new respite home is somewhere family members look forward to staying and that it fits a care and activity mode that is fun, involving others in the broader community.
If you are interested in any aspect of this venture please contact Feleena 0418 957 550 or Joanie 0437 156 917.
The organisation would like to thank Sandie and the staff for their assistance.
