I agree – true there are some FIFO’s who don’t show any respect to the town, but there are so many who do get involved here. We can’t let the minority give the majority a bad name.

I have lived in Karratha for 37 years and it’s always been known as the corner. This is another attempt to screw the locals out of more money and where does all the money they get go to? To provide us with a library, ridable footpaths? yeah right. Its about time they asked the true karratha locals what they want for karratha and not someone who hasnt a clue what is good for karratha. Maybe if they werent paid so much there might be some money to fix the library and the poor condition of the footpaths. SOR are dreaming

Wow, the SOR are choosing to regulate and charge for a Karratha tradition, because it is proving too popular? Why not assist this obvious attempt of community collaboration, and harness the public relations potential it offers. Long term stategy is integral to any govt dept, and healthy public relations should be at the top of any sustainable organisation’s goals. Clearly, an error of judgement has occured, but hey, they’re only human. Perhaps the SOR might reconsider, redraft, and hopefully redirect this ‘good’ intention for the better?

What did everyone expect for the SOR after all first charge for airport parking,then slug all the ratepayers for under ground power (not sure what the bills going to be )can’t remember requesting that but getting a bill anyway.Now charge to sell my car etc.What next parking meters in the centre of town,toll gates on the new highway(which if no ones noticed floods when it rains and the surface is already falling apart),no more free tipping of rubbish. All this is on the way as soon as we become the city of the Pilbara.Looking forward to that NOT!

I really don’t get why SOR would do such a dumb thing. It won’t generate them significant income, but will make a lot of people unhappy – including me… Luckily there’s an online version of Dreamers Hill:

Yes I agree with Corrina but I think that they (the Shire) could do a bit more for the community like Lighting,Bitumen and extend the boundary to the east,there is no shortage of space.

ok, they want to charge $ 20, maybe ok, but!! i think for this 20 buks, it needs 24 hour survailance…cant just charge and get nothing for it..any way, we will all just find somewhere else to replace the hill…very sad!!
