So, after meeting the guys from the Axis of Awesome, I have come to the conclusion to never take life too seriously.

Also, never mention your favourite celebrity.

I made this terrible mistake of letting it slip that Hannah Montana is my idol.

Twenty minutes into their performance and a slight smile from Benny, there goes the first joke of Hannah Montana made by Lee.

Jordan Raskopoulos, Lee Naimo and Benny Davis, the trio that make the Axis of Awesome, performed at the Fly on the Wall Tavern last weekend, with original material and pop parodies.

The guys let me in on the secret to their success saying that they make fun of everything around them, they take things from their normal lives and make a joke out of it.

“We don’t choose a song to make a parody of it, the joke chooses the song,” Lee said.

“We’ll be sitting around listening to music and just be like ‘hey, I’ve got better lyrics then that’.

“My favourite pop parodies we have written are the obscene, inappropriate, rude and some what racist song that we can never sing on stage.”

The Axis of Awesome are known worldwide with over 40 million hits on their YouTube channel alone.

“The response people leave on our channel is awesome,” Jordan said.

“Some comments are in another language, so we can’t understand them, so maybe that is a good thing?”

When asked how the group formed six years ago, the sarcastic comments started.

“We went to uni together, where I was studying to become the president and a jet fighter so I could learn how to prevent an alien attack,” Lee quickly said.

“But seriously, we were all heavily involved with improv  theatre at university.”

“I was really involved with the musical stuff, I started writing some songs and tried to start a band, I then found out that the songs I had written had already been sung 15 years before,” Benny said.
