If you don’t buy you, who will?
National keynote speaker, presenter, trainer and MC Gael Drum knows all too well what it feels like to cower at the thought of speaking in public, because this used to be her.
Years down the track, Pilbara-based Gael has left these fears behind and is again bringing her “Effective Presentations” workshop for personal and professional development to Port Hedland.
Gael has conducted this workshop with everyone from local individuals wishing to feel less anxious or intimidated when speaking to a group, to clients such as the National Australia Bank, BHP Billiton Iron Ore and BOOM Logistics.
Putting your hand up to do such a workshop at this early point in the year is something Gael believes is a great new year’s resolution.
“My February 23 workshop will set people up for the year with communication tools and a ‘presentation template’, which will help them persuade and sell their product or ideas more effectively,” she said.
With her vast experience, Gael says that having a template and tools boosts confidence and is a motivator for greater work opportunities.
“Most of us possess good communication skills to some extent, but we all have weaknesses in this area which can be identified and improved through training, or obtaining coaching or mentoring from someone with public speaking experience and who understands these skills.”
Crawford Realty General Manager David Rowe has completed the day-long workshop, saying that he took a lot away from it.
“Even though the confidence was there it was great to improve that confidence and learn about the structure of presentations and speaking,” he said.
“It was also great to see other participants’ confidence increase substantially through the course of the day!”
The course will be held at the Small Business Centre in Port Hedland from 7.30am – 3.30pm on February 23.
Gael is also available to follow up and coach participants for upcoming presentations throughout the year.
