Gavin and Fraser Pensini

Twins, Fraser and Gavin Pensini, who attend Guildford Grammar School, picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Australian Rowing Championships earlier in the year.

The Pensini boys come from Cheela Plains Station, 90kms west of Paraburdoo and board at the school in Perth.

They were taught from home through the Port Hedland School of Air all through their primary school years.

Ten Guildford Grammar School rowers performed well at the 2012 Australian Rowing Championships, held in March at Champion Lakes in Perth, with one team proudly making School history and taking home a silver medal.

The silver medal winning team, competing in the Under 17 VIII, included identical twins Gavin and Fraser.

The boys also came in fourth in a Double Scull team.

This is the first time in 17 years that the School has competed in the national championships.  Director of Rowing, Tony Lovrich, said the experience of competing at such a high level has been good for the students, particularly in the lead up to the Head of the River.

“Our rowers train very hard over the season, early in the morning and late in the afternoon, so it’s great to see their hard working paying off at such a high level.

“The Head of the River was held on Saturday March 31, the final day of the PSA rowing season, at Champion Lakes in Kelmscott.
