Swag of medals for Hedland
The Hedland Taekwondo Club competed in the WA State Championships last weekend collecting a swag of medals.
The growing club sent a small senior team of junior black belts and coloured belts, who all collected medals.
The success of the students has created a space in the WA Taekwondo state team for the Hedland team, who will all compete in Sydney at the end of September this year.
Tim Turner and Rob Zanetti who coached the team said that they couldn’t be more proud of their students who exceeded expectations. Tim Turner, Club Head Instructor, said he was really excited by the result.
“The team we sent was strong but small,” he said.
“There are a number of students who didn’t go this year who I believe will be equally successful.
“The future is exciting for taekwondo in the Pilbara but the hard work starts now.
“In less than three months our students will be competing with the best in Australia so we better get ready.”
The club is non-profit and the team will be seeking corporate sponsorship to assist their efforts getting across to Sydney.
