Kristy Godbee’s Relay For Life team ‘Tarzan loves Jane’ wants you to help make every cent count
The Cancer Council’s Relay For Life Pilbara event is coming up in just four weeks, and for anyone who’s ever known, cared for or knows someone with cancer, it’s a time to remember, celebrate and fight back.
With 17 teams registered to walk the midnight laps, team “Tarzan Loves Jane” is putting out the call for gals to come to their fabulous movie night and silent auction fundraiser at the Matt Dann Cultural Centre on Friday, August 3.
Team captain Kristy Godbee is very excited about this ultimate ladies’ night and she’s encouraging local ladies to jump in and buy their tickets for the comedy film “What to expect when you’re expecting”.
“Pirtek have made a very generous donation which we will be using to purchase champagne and wine for the evening, so every cent from the sale of drinks will be going to the Relay For Life charity,” Mrs Godbee says.
“We have had amazing support from local businesses with donations from Evolution Strength and Conditioning, Desert Goddess Beauty Clinic, Dollhouse Beauty Studio, Lush Home Hair Design, All Seasons, Talia Bradley Photography and, of course, Tarzan Loves Jane.”
Relay For Life is a cause she is delighted to be supporting, despite having not been through the heartache of watching a loved one battle cancer.
“Does this mean that I, or my loved ones, are immune?
“Absolutely not – I saw an opportunity to do something to make a difference,” Mrs Godbee says.
“I love having my own business [Lorna Jane stockist “Tarzan loves Jane”] and I love that I have been able to meet so many fabulous people through my business.
“If I can also use it to raise money for a cause as deserving as this one, then the question is ‘Why not?’ as opposed to ‘Why?’”
The movie night begins at 6.30pm, with the auction starting at 7pm and movie at 8pm.
