Hedland Art Awards opening night

At a past West End Market event – Kathryn Chynoweth’s silk scarves are exquisite

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the opening of the 2012 Hedland Art Awards on Friday, August 24 from 6pm until 8pm.

Awards are announced at 6:30pm.

The Port Hedland Courthouse Gallery is proud to be hosting the Hedland Art Awards which showcase the creative talent of artists in the Pilbara, Kimberely, Gascoyne and Mid West regions, with prize money totalling $65,000.

The event will be opened by Hon. Brendon Grylls, Minister Regional Development; Lands.

Following the opening night, exhibiting artists and the wider community are welcome to join the judging panel:

Marcus Canning, CEO Artrage and Director of Fringe World; Indigenous art advocates Tim Acker and Carly Davenport Acker; and Dr Darren Jorgensen, University of Western Australia for the traditional Judge’s Walk Through on Saturday, August 25 at the Courthouse Gallery from 9am.
