Two talented students attend winter dance camp
DeckArts Studio dance students Ashlee Bloomfield and Tesshara Cross recently returned to Karratha after attending a winter dance camp at Vogue Entertainment in Perth. The workshop was held over four days and the girls were put through their paces learning many different styles of dance such as contemporary, hip hop, lyrical jazz, tap, musical theatre, drama, film and television, singing and Jamaican dance hall.
Special guest teachers were ‘Rock the Ballet’ principal dancer, Joey Arrigo and fellow cast mate Tim Olsen.
The girls witnessed their teachers performing in ‘Rock the Ballet’ at the Regal Theatre and it inspired them to work hard while in Perth.
The camp was a great opportunity to expose Ashlee and Tesshara to different dance styles and to be among dance students from all over Perth.
DeckArts director Lea Cullen Lynes will continue finding exciting opportunities for her upcoming senior dance students to develop their craft.
“Every workshop, dance camp and class with a guest teacher helps students to develop a wider range of skills and exposes them to the dance world outside Karratha” she said.
There are many students at DeckArts who have their sights set on a performing arts career and Lea is more than qualified to guide them toward their goal.
She has many success stories behind her with former DeckArts students attending schools such as John Curtin College of Arts, Urban Dance Centre Sydney, Dance World Melbourne, WA Youth Ballet and more.
Lea is a former WAAPA (WA Academy of Performing Arts) teacher and graduate in Dance and Music Theatre.
She is very excited about the progress of her current senior students at DAS who range in age from 12 to 18-years-old.
Like Ashlee and Tesshara, they are keen to expand their developing talents and DAS is planning to attend a winter dance camp in Melbourne next year, an intensive series of workshops over five days.
