Over 2,000 punters made their way to the 2012 Robe River Rodeo at Pannawonica last Saturday for a weekend of cowboys, rock n roll and bull riding.
Don Inall, President of the Robe River Rodeo Committee said during the day the crowd was the biggest he has seen since the first rodeo 18 years ago.
At night, after the kids were put to bed, the bar was at its capacity of 1,000 people, with punters being turned away.
Innall said the event was a huge success with all aspects running smoothly.
“It was a real good turnout,” he said. “There was a lot of people, too many actually, we ran out of beer in the end!”
The Rodeo was not short on competitors either, with riders coming from as far as Darwin and Alice Springs.
“Campdraft was down 30 or 40 competitors from last year, but we still had plenty to keep us busy,” said Inall.
Winners Joe Pederick, Frank Angel and Bruce Trenaman all tied to take out the Campdraft Pilbara Perpetual trophy.
Aneeka Ronchi-Cousins won the Junior Pilbara Perpetual trophy and Alex Gibbs won the Juvenile Pilbara Perpetual trophy,

“Each year it’s getting bigger.
“We can’t move it but we’re going to to make adjustments.”
