On Tuesday the 24th of November the Year 11 and 12 students were surrounded by their family, friends, teachers and staff for their graduation ceremony.
The event celebrated the graduation of year 12 students and acknowledged the achievements of the Pilbara colleges students and industry partners during 2009.
37 students were present for the evening, 20 year 11’s and 17 year 12 graduates.
Many year 12 students were looking forward to beginning the next chapter and were extremely proud to be graduating.
The College offers an exciting new approach to trade training and senior secondary education.
No where else can apprentices commence a trade, earn a wage and finish high school.
Australian Technical College - Pilbara is designed for year 11 or 12 students who want to begin a trade apprenticeship while completing their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
The graduation ceremony comes as the ATC has been saved by the WA Government from looming closure at the end of the year.
The government recently announced they would assume responsibility for the operations of the college to allow it to remain open.
This decision was made in the interests of the local community and industry and can help ensure all Western Australians had access to first-class training opportunities wherever they lived.
