Sean Flynn, Nikalah O’Sullivan, Josh Goscombe, Amelia Stribley and Mitch Hamilton discuss their futures after their first counselling session of the year.

Students at Karratha Senior High School are not only tackling their current subjects, assessment tasks, sporting carnivals and study with gusto, they are also already considering what comes next – life after secondary school.

Last week, students with aspirations of Tertiary study undertook their first Course Counselling session with consultant Clare Timmins.
Ms Timmins specialises in Secondary to Tertiary transition counselling and conducted several sessions for students during the school day, and for parents and students in the evening.
Sessions covered a broad array of topics, ranging from current study habits and monitoring of progress, to researching which are the most suitable courses for individual students’ needs and how to apply for both WA and interstate Universities.
Ms Timmins will return to KSHS throughout the year to assist students as they progress further in this planning and to offer more one on one advice.
