On Wednesday 3rd of March the Member for North West, Mr Vincent Catania announced that the Shire of Roebourne had received $1,000,000 for the upgrade of the Roebourne Aquatic Centre.
The grant was one of the community sport and recreation projects funded through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR).
This round’s successful applicants will share in a total of $20 million in funding, after the Liberal-National state government more than doubled the fund from $9 million.
Mr Catania said participation in sport and recreation has the power to build stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities, which is why the Barnett government has doubled funding for community sport and recreation infrastructure under the CSRFF program.”
“That is why the Government has delivered on its election commitment to more than double the CSRFF fund from $9million to $20million per year,” said Mr Catania.
“We are determined to support the development of basic infrastructure to increase community participation in sport and recreation.
“Our strong economic management is enabling us to deliver these funds to ensure grass roots sport and recreation organisations can grow and provide opportunities for people to be active.”
These works also provide a boost to local tradespeople, who will build the new and improved infrastructure.”
The increase was made in recognition of the valuable contribution sport and recreation makes to the lives of everyday Western Australians.
