 Donate to Kira as she shaves off her beautiful long locks to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation. Local Dampier resident Kira Fischer is all set to lose her locks during this year’s World’s Greatest Shave.
Kira is shaving her head to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation.
The money will go towards raising funds for free services to support patients and families living with leukemia, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
It also funds blood cancer research to find better treatments and cures.
“I've been fortunate enough to have never had anyone close to me suffer from a blood cancer,” explains Kira.
“I lost my grandfather, long term Dampier resident David Haig, to liver and lung cancer almost 2 years ago.
But I do believe that it's not necessary to wait to know someone with it before you do something about it” she added.
Kira’s goal is to raise awareness and $10,000 cash.
She would like to invite everyone to join her on Saturday the 13th March at the Dampier Mermaid.
This is where the big event will be taking place, everyone can donate on the day and others who are keen to shave or colour their hair are invited to join in.
The evening will begin at 7pm.
The Leukemia Foundation in WA provides patients with information and resources, education and support programs, transportation to and from treatment, ‘home away from home’ accommodation in Perth close to major metropolitan hospitals, practical assistance and emotional support.
All of these services are provided free of charge by the Foundation.
The Leukemia Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the care and cure of patients and families living with leukemia's, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
As the Foundation receives no on-going government funding it is through the generosity of the public and corporate sector at events such as World’s Greatest Shave that it can continue to provide support to patients and families.
