Expectant mums and those with young babies are being invited to attend a free workshop in Karratha on Monday 19 July.
The ‘Healthy Minds for Healthy Mums and Bubs’ workshop aims to give young mothers an opportunity to spend a few hours having fun with their babies while learning more about the support available to them.
Organised by WA Country Health Service - Pilbara’s Population Health Department, the workshop will cover topics such as; perinatal, social and emotional wellbeing; making exercise and healthy eating fun; self-care strategies; planning and support and mother-baby attachment.
Child Health Nurse Fiona Kennedy said the workshop has been designed to offer support and advice to new mums.
“Sometimes parents just need a bit of extra help but they are not always sure of what support is available to them.  I would like to encourage new mums to come along to the workshop and find out more.”
The workshop is being sponsored by the WA Perinatal Mental Health Unit Women’s and Newborn Health Service.
It will run from 9.15am – 2.30pm at the Baptist Church, Gawthorne Drive, Millars Well, Karratha on Monday 19 July.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided and crèche facilities are available for older children but bookings are essential.
