Leading dancers to visit ballet schools around the country. Young ballet dancers around Australia are being offered the opportunity to win their class a session with a dancer from The Australian Ballet, thanks to the 2009 ‘NAB Dance the Dream’ competition.
Budding young dancers, their teachers and parents from around Karratha are being invited to nominate their ballet school via new community ballet website, HYPERLINK “http://nab.com.au/ballet” nab.com.au/ballet. Dance schools in every corner of the country are eligible to enter and while each person can only nominate once, there is no limit on how many times a school can be nominated. A partnership between NAB and The Australian Ballet, NAB Dance the Dream has been established to inspire and educate aspiring young dance students from regional and metropolitan centres around the country. NAB Dance the Dream classes were trialled last year in selected ballet schools with overwhelmingly positive results. Dancers including Lisa Bolte, Tim Harbor and Lucinda Dunn spent time with students, sharing career advice and dance techniques. Following on from this success, NAB has opened the opportunity in 2009 as a competition between all ballet schools across Australia, offering ten of these experiences. “NAB Dance the Dream is a wonderful opportunity for our company to give back to the community”, said David McAllister, Artistic Director, The Australian Ballet. “To nurture and engage young dancers is vitally important – many of us could only have wished for such an opportunity as young students,” he said. This year NAB celebrates five years of partnership with The Australian Ballet. To mark the occasion, the NAB Ballet website has been launched to help connect dancers around the country. The site will create an online ballet community for everyone to share, offering visitors ‘Tips from the Top’ and a forum to ask questions and share their ballet stories. “We are delighted to create this website for young Australian dancers and their teachers to access and enjoy” said Tim O’Leary, General Manager Community & Corporate Responsibility, NAB. “Through initiatives such as the website and NAB Dance the Dream, we really hope to support young dancers to reach their potential”. For the opportunity to win a once in a lifetime experience with a dancer from The Australian Ballet, simply visit HYPERLINK “http://nab.com.au/ballet” nab.com.au/ballet and explain why this opportunity would make a difference to your ballet class. There are ten NAB Dance the Dream classes to be won and nominations are open until 30 June 2009. |
