![]() The St John Ambulance volunteers St John’s Ambulance Karratha Sub Centre recently purchased a new fully equipped Ambulance for the volunteer service. The new Ambulance cost around $130,000 for the vehicle only and then needed to be equipped with a stretcher at the value of $12,000 plus other sundry items. These funds were raised by the volunteers themselves through events and ambulance call outs. They have another new van arriving in September costing approximately $140,000 plus a stretcher. The St John Ambulance service, which is based on Welcome Road, has been nominated for Sub Centre of the Year at the up coming St John Ambulance Conference which is held on the 20th and 21st of August in Perth. Also in the running for an award will be Natalie Logan for Volunteer of the Year and Roz Tritton who has been nominated for Trainer of the Year. In other news, the Government will soon be providing the St John’s Ambulance service with a full time Community Paramedic. They will be responsible for assisting the St John Ambulance volunteers in the surrounding areas of Roebourne, Wickham Karratha, Dampier and Onslow with Training and Recruitment. The volunteers of Karratha will be attending the FeNaClNG event next weekend, so please be sure to pay them a visit to show your appreciation for all their hard work and efforts. |
